Kathina Ceremony - Dhamma Talk with Q and A session
Greetings Fellow Practitioners,
We’ve had a slightly busy time at Anandagiri lately, with a ceremony for conferring an honorific title to myself, that had been granted by the Thai King, followed by our Kathina ceremony. It was a joyful time where we welcomed one of His Majesty’s privy councilors, scores of civil servants from various government departments, around 35 monks, including Tahn Ajahn Anan, and a couple of hundred monastery supporters and lay friends. Despite the busyness, it was truly lovely to welcome many friends back to the monastery after a long period with limited travel and restricted access, and lovely to welcome new friends as well. |
A lovely video that has been added to one of my earlier chants, with music by Christopher Conway and video editing by Aparajita Ghose. As well as a talk that I gave to the Buddhist Fellowship in Singapore recently, titled, ‘Rebirth is Real - Conditions Towards the Unconditioned’. And a follow up Q and A session with that group.
I hope that something shared here may prove nourishing to your spiritual practice.

Auspicious Chants from the Pali Theravadan tradition
Dear fellow practitioners,
I am happy to share with you here the first track in a new collection of chanting with soundscapes. The first track is the Karaniyametta sutta. This is a beautiful collaboration of chanting and music with a special and authentic Indian sound and feel. Chanted and recorded in Mumbai by Shivani Agarwal, who is a classically trained vocalist. The vocal arrangements are by Shivani. The music has been composed by Kaamod Subhash and was arranged by Uday Salvi, recorded mixed and mastered by Rupak Thakur. |
The recording and production costs have been sponsored by Nithya, an Indian living in Toronto, Canada. We are very pleased to be able to make these uplifting traditional auspicious chants from the Pali Theravadan tradition available for you here at the Peace Beyond Suffering website, to listen to and/or download for free. And hope that you may benefit from this offering. May you be well and happy, and may we all be Blessed to continue to grow in Buddhadhamma.

Citizenship being granted by Thai King
|
Greetings Dear fellow practitioners,
I hope this message meets you in good health and good spirits. I have some good news to share with you all. I was recently invited to the palace of the Thai King, Rama the 10th to share some Dhamma. I met with him on two evenings where we had some Dhamma discussion and guided meditations. I was impressed by the King’s very sincere interest in the practice of Dhamma and also with how often he meets with very skilled and learned practitioners. (About 5 evenings every week of late) After our discussions His Majesty kindly enquired of my visa status. Upon hearing of some ongoing challenges, he decided to grant citizenship on the very next day, a privilege that he has under the Thai constitutional monarchy system of government. On my visit to the palace on the second night the King personally granted me Thai citizenship. Several days later he also conferred an honorific title and name. The new name is ‘Tahn Chao Khun Vajira Nyanamuni’. Which means ‘Diamond like knowledge of peacefulness’ Which is a lovely name indeed! |
Both of these honours will prove to be extremely helpful for my long term security in Thailand, and I am forever grateful to His Majesty Maha Vajiralonkhorn.
I shared some more details of the occasion on a livestream recently. Feel free to have a listen if it is of interest to you.
