Formal Chanting |
Pali Chanting without Music (2018/2019)
Recognising that many people live far away from monasteries, but may wish nonetheless to join in doing some traditional Pali chanting, we have included a 20 minute Pali Puja here as chanted by Ajahn Achalo and two of the other monks who were living at Anandagiri at the time of recording. (Ajahn Kgit, a Thai monk and Ajahn Visalo and Indonesian born monk)
You may be interested to know that this selection of chants is actually what Ajahn leads in reciting as 'The Basic Puja' at the Holy sites of India and Nepal whilst on pilgrimage (Please note that the final chant is actually Sanskrit and Tibetan.) We have now also added the first formal teaching taught by Lord Buddha. The Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta, chanted solo here by Ajahn Achalo. And have included this again, chanted in a group setting with Malaysian retreatants, along with the Anattalakhana Sutta, (discourse on Not-Self) and Adittapariyaya Sutta (The Fire Sermon) which were the 2nd and 3rd of what is known as the ‘Three Cardinal Suttas.’ (Ajahn Achalo)
