Online Meetings in August  and September 2023

30 August 2023

Questions
Q1: As I develop anatta-sañña, contemplating ‘not-self’ I have this strong sense that that which is observing phenomena as not-self is “me,” like there is this subject-object distinction there. Do you have any advice for overcoming this sense that “the one who knows” is a self?
Q2: What is the right way to prepare for, and to practice asubha bhāvanā in our day to day life? When there is constant struggle with uncertainty, dissatisfaction and dukkha?

Q3: Why is it so hard to maintain right speech?

Q4: There are parents who are very harsh towards their child. (eg raping, torturing) In such cases, what is expected of the child with regards to filial piety? Do they still have to repay their parents?

Q5: How do we heal inter-generational trauma - trauma that’s been passed on from one generation to the next one.

Q6: Where did Buddha go upon death, or what happened to his consciousness?

Questions
Q1: What are the best ways to ensure we encounter the Dhamma again and are drawn to practice it in future lives?

Q2: How do we actually prepare for death?
Q3: How can one work towards being less sensitive and less defensive upon receiving critical feedback from others. Meditation seems to make me more sensitive in several ways.

Q4: May I know if seeking encouragement or for an affirmation is a form of seeking praise?

Q5: How to realize anattā? (not-self).

02 August 2023

Questions
Q1: Why do some people seek for rebirth in Tushita heaven? Shouldn’t we aspire for no rebirth? Isn’t the human realm the best for practice? Thank you.

Q2: Is it skilful to set a detailed aspiration regularly like: ‘When it is time to pass on. May I pass on during my meditation or while listening to a dhamma talk’. Should I aspire to be alone when passing on? There is no one else who is practicing at home except myself.
