QuestionsQ1: Would you mind mentioning exactly which practice / method / contemplation that you were doing when you personally experienced the Insight experiences that you mentioned in the last session?
Similarly with the temporary liberation, or experiencing of a liberated state for a period of time, what seemed to lead into that experience? |
Q2: I have a little point of confusion which I hope Tahn Ajahn can clarify with regard to these experiences of temporary liberations, or of glimpsing or experiencing nibbana, which some meditators claim to experience. I thought that directly experiencing nibbana would be the cause for becoming a stream enterer. Yet Than Ajahn said that you do not claim to be one. Please clarify.
Q3: I would like to ask if you have encountered any supernatural incidents? If yes would you mind to share?

How Do I Transform the Joy of Giving Into Inner Peace?
|
A talk given to Buddhist Fellowship Singapore 21 February 2021
Questions (summarized): Q1: I understand your point about a regular practice but sometimes if there has been a gap in my meditation schedule, the joy and mindfulness comes back more strongly when I start again. Q2: Could you please elaborate on "the deathless" and "the unconditioned". |
Q3: You mentioned how our attention is split, especially with lay practioners having social obligations etc.. How can we gain back our mindfulness and increased consistency?
Q4: Do you have any final words of advice, especially for any friends who don't meditate?
Q5: Would you recommend the Buddho meditation method? And then letting it go [as the meditation deepens]?
Q6: And should we follow the entire breath or just focus on one spot?
Q7: Could you describe where you are sitting and tell us more about the space?

Questions
Q1 - Can you tell us a little about your own personal experiences of the fruits and results of an intense meditation practice over the course of your years as a monk? Q2 - You mentioned in one of your lives you were a female. May I ask how does one practice to be reborn as a male for a more conducive condition for spiritual practice? |

Questions
There were problems with the video on this zoom, but the audio is fine. Enjoy!! Q1 - Can Ajahn talk about the placement of piti in the 7 Factors of Awakening? I usually think of piti as arising from concentration, but piti is mentioned as the 4th factor in that list. |
Q2 - I'm reading 'How To See Yourself As You Really Are' by HH Dala Lama. It's quite advanced in its teachings and language. The expressions I'm struggling with to feel more flow in absorbing it when reading is 1. 'phenomena being empty of inherent existence' and 2. 'dependent-arising phenomena'. Could dear Ajahn explain please in a bit more layperson words what these two convey? Sadhu.
Q3 - I observe many people like to gossip, lack mindfulness and practice bad speech. How would you create the right conditions so they may be aware and hopefully realise their action?
Q4 - Observations on current events at Anandagiri; Living with dust and noise; you can’t have beauty without mess in the conditioned world; projects start with inspiration, then from 60%-90% of a project is hard work ... and the last 10% is inspiration again.

Questions
Q1 - Can you share how we should contemplate attachment so that we may progress towards overcoming it? Q2 - I am originally from Patan in Nepal and I was quite surprised to see that you have a small stone sculpted chedi from Nepal on a hill in your monastery. How did this come to be? |
Q3 - It has taken me a long, roundabout route in this life before I encountered the Dhamma in my 40's. I feel I have wasted a lot of time and created lots of bad kamma. How can I make an effective aspiration in hoping to meet Buddha's teachings early in my next lives? And meet good teachers and kalyanamitta and good environment/conditions to practise effectively?
Q4 - Is it bad kamma to tell the neighbour to do something about their noisy washing machine which is disturbingly loud?
